…on the web, and everywhere else. After all, first impression is mostly based on appearance – it is also the same for blogs. In order to get people to look at your blog, appearance is very important.
Having a nice-looking site makes all the difference between a first time visitor to stay or simply pass by your blog. Wordpress is the blog platform I use for Nagashiko.Com because it’s very easy to use and very easy to customize. This is where Wordpress layouts come into play. Just Google Wordpress Layouts, and thousands of search results are there to choose from
I’ve seen many blogs around the net and some, I really find unattractive because they were flooded with ads and too many unnecessary widgets. Other than that, the color schemes of some blogs hurt my eyes.
In order to make a visitor stay on your site, make sure your site is pleasing to the eyes. I’m not saying that my site is very pretty and you should follow my example, nope! I’m only saying that a blog shouldn’t have too much graphics and other stuffies you don’t really need, because too much is not always pretty. It’s just like dressing up; putting on too many pretty things doesn’t always make you look prettier, like these girls…

But we shouldn’t dwell too much on appearance because it is still the content of your blog that will make them your common visitors. A nice looking site is nothing if the content isn’t nice or reader friendly.
But yeah, if you already have good blog content, spend some time to make your blog more attractive to gain popularity and so your visitors will remember you. =)

Why not start your own website or blog? Once you already have a blog, you can submit them to different Web Directories to invite more readers.
A blog is a type of website, usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Entries are commonly displayed in reverse-chronological order.

Blogging is very easy. You can write about anything under the sun. For newbies, they’d start a blog using Wordpress, Blogspot and etc. Not that I’m saying there’s anything wrong with it. I’m only saying that you can earn from your blog when you have your own domain (although you can put ads on Blogspot, that’s why there a lot of bloggers using a blogspot domain). You can read more about monetizing your blog on this post.

Anyway, let’s go back to Web Directories. A web directory or link directory is a directory on the World Wide Web. It specializes in linking to other web sites and categorizing those links. A web directory is not a search engine and does not display lists of web pages based on keywords; instead, it lists web sites by category and subcategory.
Some good examples of good Web Directories are Jasmine Directory and Max Directory. Getting exposure for your blog is important in building a following, readership, and revenue. Basic link building for blogs begins with listing them in blog directories. Here are some Free Blog Directories I’ve submitted my blog to:
— Blog Catalog
— My Bloglog
— Technorati
— Blogged
— Bloggapedia
— Bloggernity
— Blogarama
There are many things to consider when building links to your blog such as blog-hopping or link exchanging, but few are as easy to implement and cost effective and less time-consuming as submitting to blog directories. =D
Thank you Wikipedia for the information about Blogs and Web Directories.

Money-making
Blogging is a good way to make money online. All you need to do is sit down in front of a computer and start writing about topics YOU wanna talk about.
I’ve been blogging since 2005. I’ve only thought about making money out of it just now. I found this site and registered my blog ‘coz I wanna give it a try. So here goes.

It all started when I met my new officemate who happens to be a blogger too. She gets paid to advertise through her blogs. I asked her, “How do you do it?” Then she gave me these simple tips.
1. Have a blog at least 90 days old. Good thing this blog is already old enough.
2. Get a domain name, like nagashiko.com or www.example.com. Domain names are too cheap for me not to have one. If I want my visitors and other bloggers to take me seriously, I should secure my own piece of real estate on the Web. And I wanna give special thanks to Hex Solutions for hosting my site. XD
3. Create a PayPal account. I just registered. I’ll just follow up my credit card number after Holy Week.
4. Register the blog in Blogsvertise. Blogsvertise assign tasks to registered members with the internet website address and what to talk about on their blog. The topics/tasks will be simply emailed to you once your account registration is approved.
It’s so simple! You don’t have to be a good writer to become a good blogger. Readers really don’t care about grammar and spelling as long as they can understand your posts. Blog posts should be reader friendly so that they’ll read the whole content of the blog.

So what could be better than to be able to use my hobby, which is blogging, to actually earn money? Start Blogsvertising too! =)
I hope this works. XD
