Single As Charged

What is the question your relatives would most likely ask you during a reunion? If you’re in your late 20’s or older, I’m pretty sure it would be something like, “When are you getting married?”

Yesterday when I was walking along the Lifestyle Shopping Arcade at Ayala Avenue, I can’t help but stare at this store that sell 14kt gold jewelleries.

The name of the store was Matus Jewellery. The picture above was one of their 14kt gold engagement rings. It also has a white gold version. I didn’t walk inside the store because it was kind of embarrassing (I think) ‘coz I couldn’t afford it. But even if I could, it’s still embarrassing ‘coz the man  of my life (if there would be any) should be buying it for me.

I wonder when will come the time when a man will ask me, “Will you marry me?” I’ve already played this scene a billion times in my head, with my ex-boyfriend as the leading man. I had a perfect picture of how that moment would unfold. But it’s all over now…

I’m single. Guilty as charged. I recently got out of a 7-year relationship and it was a very difficult decision. Do you know the saying, “If you love someone, set him free” So I did. And it was easier said than done. View the details on my previous posts: Remembering Him… Again!; What doesn’t Kill You; Reformat; I Am Officially Single Again; and Anna Lee.

Being single is not easy in a society that emphasizes couples. It means different things to each of us. For some, it’s a way of life. For most of us, it is a state of being that we hope is temporary.

Time naturally heals. And now, I’m happy again with my life. Mr. Right is just somewhere out there. But if Mr. Right doesn’t exist, then I’d just be happy with what I have. Getting married is not really the basis of someone’s happiness. I’d not rush into things and just wait. =D
